Elder James Polk believes that God has anointed and appointed him to be Pastor of the Greater House Of Prayer flock, and has established this scripture of belief.. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-3

Pastor Polk is a native of Oakland CA,  and is one of four children born to Charles and District Missionary Sarah Polk. He is a fourth generation Church of God in Christ product that follows in the footsteps of his family legacy.

Pastor Polk is married to the beautiful First Lady Judith Elva Polk; and sharing in their joy, together have four lovely daughters; Jamie, Joslyn, Arcelia, and Alyssa, and one son; Aiden.

Pastor Polk accepted Christ at an early age at the Greater House of Prayer under the leadership of the late Bishop Jessie Dickens. Being led of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Polk preached his initial sermon entitled, “Let’s Get the Job Done” in 1993. Eleven young people accepted the Lord at the Institutional Church of God in Christ. Co-founded by Bishop Israel Marrone.

Before being elevated to Pastor of the Greater House of Prayer Pastor James Polk was honored to serve as follows: Sunshine Band Choir Director, Usher, Sunday School Secretary, Kitchen Committee, Musician, Minister, and Elder, co-founder of the California Western Fellowship Choir along with Missionary Myrtle Harmon now known as the Jessie Dickens Memorial Jurisdictional Choir. Jurisdictional level Elder Polk served faithfully as Director of Music, Personal Adjutant to the Bishop, Chief Adjutant, and Treasurer.

Elder Polk has more than 30 years of Professional Business experience, and in that time has cultivated a vast array of culturally diverse relationships. God also blessed him with success in the Financial District of San Francisco, where he successfully helped many people find jobs. This was in fulfillment of a prophesy spoken over him during the 2013 National Holy Convocation. After the home-going of Bishop Jessie Dickens, he was then appointed to be Pastor of Greater House of Prayer, by Bishop Jerry Wayne Macklin, the Second Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ.
